Mission

Nile University (NU) graduate degree in banking and finance (Master of science and professional Diploma) are academic and professional programs, respectively, intended for academicians and practitioners in the fields of banking, investment, finance and Islamic finance. The curriculum is both theoretical and practical in nature and many of the teaching in courses depend on the case study methodology. Both degrees offer a strong finance-focused curriculum in contrast to MBA or EMBA which tend to be general in nature.

Participants have the option of pursuing their studies leading to either a professional diploma in banking and finance or a Master of Science in banking and finance. Participants in these programs are exposed to financial theory and modeling and they are introduced to contemporary topics in finance including the international and regulatory dimensions. They are also engaged in applied research and simulation exercises using case studies and professional software packages.

Description

Master of Science and Professional Diploma in Banking and Finance is designed for students with a bachelor's degree in business, economic, finance and its related fields. It offers a strong financial focusing curriculum, using theoretical and practical methodologies. Students are expected to specialize in: Banking, Investment and Finance, Fintech and Banking and Finance. Students are introduced to international and regulatory dimensions and engage in applied research and simulation exercises.

This program is provided by Nile University, which is accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities.

The set of skills that MBF students will acquire are the following:

  • Integrate Business Functions for Financial Decisions
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to Integrate the different Business disciplines in assessing Financial challenges and opportunities considering the local and international constraints as well as the company’s mission, vision, and overall strategy.
  • Demonstrate Strong Knowledge of Financial Theory
  • Understand, compare and contrast the different Financial theories that influence Financial Decisions in valuation, dividends distribution, capital structure, mergers and acquisitions, credit rating, and other related areas.
  • Evaluate Financial Performance
  • Identify the firm’s strengths and develop the right mix of assets that are aligned with the overall strategy of the firm and Evaluate whether the objectives of the firm’s investment policy have been met.
  • Analyze Financial Investments
  • Evaluate the risk-return trade-off of different Financial Investments and design a portfolio of Investments that is optimum in terms of liquidity, duration, and other identified requirements and constraints.
  • Demonstrate Expertise in Area of Specialization
  • Provide professional advice on issues related to his/her Specialization including analyzing problems and developing alternatives for decision-making.
